Dearraindrop – quirky VJ hardware.

I’m a huge fan of weird and quirky VJ set-ups; it adds a bit of charm and character to the performance that seems to be lacking from out of the box VJ software.

This bad boy is the Dearraindrop Color Television Oscilloscope and is basically a colourful box with knobs on that produces both audio and video frequencies. Something like this would go well at a breakcore/glitchy night. Also a bonus is the fact that the VJ will look like he knows what he’s doing, when in reality he won’t have a clue.
Check out the video of it in action below:

Only sour point to it all? It’s $280. Definitely not credit crunch friendly.

Sol and Sample’s first release

These two are techo heads from Brighton producing tunes and promoting regular week night Bleep Low Tech for all those wronguns in the 24/7 party town.

They’ve put their demo out recently and got not one, not two, but three labels interested in them. Their first release, “Not Into It” was released on Christmas Eve on Shufflemood with more to follow next year. Go listen and buy now. I also hear rumours that Scrase may be fiddleing with dubstep techno hybrid and I’ll do my damn best to let you know about it as soon as I do.

I also should take this space to mention that Simon Green (the Sol contingent) puts out a regular thumping techno podcast here.

Soundcloud + Disgusting Electronica

I’ve just found 2 things tonight which have given me heaps of online joy. The second compounded the joy of the object I in fact found first.

1. I found out somebody interesting I met had begun producing. So when I asked him for some tracks expecting to be asked for my email address to get an Mp3 or to be sent to yousendit or something annoying and ad based like that i was directed here instead. It is delightful.

2. The marvellous Mr. Pixelh8 told me he’s going to be on Radio 1 AGAIN this month. On a show I’ve never heard of called David Hooper’s Disgusting Electronica. I’m listening to the September broadcast now on you guessed it it’s a fun mix of Chris Morris inspired humour and yes disgusting electronica. Good to know it’s getting some exposure on national Radio and my love of Radio 1 has just deepened that bit more (with a few exceptions of course).

I have now registered on Soundcloud and have begun following people – this could be another social networking tire but I’m liking the vibe – simple and a nice way for peeps to share their own productions and mixes

So anyways listen to Pixelh8 on Radio one @ 0000 on Boxing Day on Radio One
