MIX: Dead Sound + Videohead Quietus Mix

And we're back...sorry for the downtime issues paying for hosting thanks to some phoney transactions on our account. Anyway a couple of weeks ago The Quietus gave Dead Sound and Videohead some well deserved airtime. It was all to herald the arrival of their latest EP 'Murder' out on Perc Trax - they're also working on launching their own imprint soon so watch this space for more info on that.

Out Now: Al Tourettes - Swan Sketch EP - Baselogic

Is the title of this a nod to the track Al Tourettes had featured in Darren Arrenofsky's phycologically affecting Black Swan film. Kicking off the release from the outset of 'Swan Sketch' a dark tension bubbles under the surface of Al Tourettes beats here, if you've seen him live it has the same feel of the build up of his sets. Datasette's on remix duty reworking this track - building in a twist of synth funk into deep beats.

The other two tracks while still with dark undertones have got a playful feel to them, synth stabs build 'Universe' up into a deep electro bass track, yet with a twist of syncopation built in to the underlying groove. This is the first full release in a long time for Al Tourettes and comes on Bloc's label Baselogic carrying on where Ed Chamberlain left off with his mutated bass tracks.
