This is the second release from the recently launched pay for arm of the Acroplane net label from Dead Sound. It's already had support form Surgeon, Warlock and Combat Recording's Stormfield which is pretty impressive and you can see why with it's reverberating techno dub it's a heavy club floor ready release.
Available to buy from 2nd March from all good online digital download stores. Listen for yourself via the Soundcloud player below, definitely worth parting with your cash for the full HQ versions.
Debasser is one of the finest and original UK Bass artists who stylistically lies somewhere in between electro and breaks with a little bit of wobble. Shinra provides the remix for Music Freak with some nice acid and filling out the sound.
The boogie bass meister will also be releasing on the Balkan Vinyl series on BV02 and playing live at Bloc 2010 in the Fenchurch Dome his live sets are proper party makers so make sure you catch him there.
Music Freak is released digitally on Wide Records at the end of the week.
Over the next 6 months new label Balkan Vinyl will be releasing a colour series of vinyl and digital releases brought to you by Josh Doherty of AGT Rave Crew, Posthuman and formerly Seed Records. The project has been years in the making and seeks to promote emerging talent by mixing them up with more established as part of a subscription service. It's £40 + pp for the lot as well as bonus unreleased tracks with subscribers getting one vinyl a month over the next 6 months, however you can still purchase a limited number individually on vinyl from rubadub and also digitally from most of the digital stores.
Many null+void favourite artists like Paul Blackford, Richard Wigglesworth, Echaskech and Posthuman will feature on the series. Plus the very nicely designed website will be brimming with exclusive interviews and free downloads during this time too so make sure you check it out.
The first colour in the series, Red, is out now with tracks by Mark Archer, B12, Global Good, and Luke Vibert & Richard Wigglesworth most of who played at the label launch party this Saturday.
We did take a fair long break on null+void for Christmas. Happy New Year all it's good to be back well rested and refreshed.
We are getting ready for a redesign of null+void so we can organise different sorts of news stories and also give more over to the guest banner artists plus the podcast keeps getting stronger with forthcoming submissions confirmed so far by Paul Blackford and Jakeone to look forward to this year.
Plus I've got some DJ dates for January and February to look forward to. Starting off on the 22nd of January at The Horse & Groom in Shoreditch for the launch of Inhouse, then by Plex on 5th Feb and closely followed with my SUPERDISCO residencey on the 12th. More details to follow of these parties.
Time for a catch up of releases that I've missed these past couple of weeks:
First is Bass Gun Records compilation All Guns Blazing released on december 28th, previously mentioned on this site on the subject of it's remix competition which Ben Phaze ended up winning. Highlighs are the Dexorcist remix of Synapse's Mech Annoyed and Radioactive Man Remix of Paul Blackford's classic track Electro Shock.
I also missed this Electronica 2000-2009 mix done my the music editor at work Tim Noakes a massive 2 and a half hour retrospective of electronica from the last decade from his ear and he probably listens to more music than anyone else in the UK, there's a good broad scope here.
The Centrifuge and Acroplane released a great joint compilation with tracks from Ebola and Oxynucid just before Christmas [download here] have lots of acid lushness ready to go from Roy of the Ravers and Rotodrone in the coming months. Still they kicked off the year with some twisty drill n bass from Terrificolor [download here].
Here's a handy player the label put together so you can hear for yourself.
Pain Struck Stanley Dumb's new EP on Wide; Richard Wigglesworth's Merri Portland album; BLOC Weekend; Glade; more Swerved parties; going back to All Your Base in Reading; maybe getting over to Berlin this year; SUPERDISCO; DJing and still being skint but having fun.
It's been a while in the coming but the electic and very underground electronic music crew Bit-Phalanx have launched back into creativity as promotinos and management group adding net-label and the beginnings of lovely website (more promised to come soon) to their bag of tricks. The first release today is compilation 'Welcoming Committe' available for free download (with donate option). It's great to be able to hear their roster showcased in a compilation this from breakcore to the acid with tracks 1983arp by Portmanteau and some classic Black Victory my highlights of the album.
