Glade Festival Launch New Website

Glade festival are back! We're so happy to see this there was a decidedly big hole in electronic music programming last year, not to say quality was lacking in other events, it just wasn't the same.

Tickets have been on sale for a short while to the Glade family and have already sold half of the capacity - a great start for the festival's back to the roots approach for this year. And this week Glade launched their new website. No line up announcements have been made as yet but what we can see is what stages are on board for 2011 - Glade, Origin, Overkill, Rabbit Hole, Inspiral, Nexus, Nanosystems and Wellbeings have all been confirmed.

The venue is being kept a secret for the time being and the date of the festival has been moved up to mid June running from the 10th -12th.

Check it out here.

Militant Science Re-Launches As Net-Label

One of our favourite labels Militant Science run by Paul Blackford has decided to go from a pay for music business model to the download what you want for free net label. Reason being is that music that's released for money is instantly being uploaded and hosted for free on torrents and naughty blogs, for a niche small label that only relies on digital sales for revenue is meaning that it's not making any money so why not go straight to fans and give it away for free.

The quality of music on Militant Science is outstanding and will continue to be, it's also one of the few specialist electro labels running at the moment.

A good place to start tucking into the back catalogue is with my personal favourite Militant Science release from Scrase - MSR002 both tracks Stakker and Ford are killer high tech electro/drum and bass hybrids.

New Events Section, New Banner Artist + Nearly New Podcast

We've been talking about it for a while and last night we set up a new events section for null+void. Too often there's multiple events in multiple cities on a given weekend and there's not enough room on the blog to give space to all the events that we want to support. You'll have to subscribe again to a seperate RSS feed until we get a master one sorted out for the blog / events and podcast. We'll still be highlighting certain events in the main blog.

Subscribe to the events RSS here.

We have a stunning new piece of banner art from Bristol based illustrator Ben Whight, he's supplied artwork for many a party flyer and record cover. What can I say? His nightmarish mutant robots won over our hearts.

Read the interview here.

Finally if you haven't listened already the latest mix for null+void by electro warrior DJ and producer Soundex Phonetic is an epic journey with true electro and techno of the hightest quality.

Listen and download here / subscribe here.

Save Plastic People!

Just a quick shout here to lend your support and make sure all the right people are aware that the police and Hackney Council are trying to shut down legendary sub heavy club Plastic People.

It would be a crying shame if they succeded and the grounds for this are totally unfounded. I'll be posting information on how people can take action against this soon, in the mean time:

Here's my DazedDigital.com article about the news.

Braindance Community's Cloudsourced Podcast

The new online community birthed to fill the whole and give a new home to failthful Planet Mu users and intelligent dance music fans alike Braindance.co.uk has been running now for a month. Might I add Planet Mu has just relaunched their website selling all their merchandise and releases in multiple formats. It's looking pretty slick and hopefully this means the label will be able to get a higher proportion of money raised by sales by selling direct. Plus it's a comprehensive one stop shop representing their roster so despite a bit of tension with the old board users it looks like this move has been worth it to push forward into Web 3.0.

The new community has got off to a great start with a friendly crowd and most from the Mu board have moved over. They have a fortnightly podcast/mixtape series where they nominate a member of the board to produce one each fortnight.

You can get involved via this thread here.

Episodes so far:

01 - 22 January 2010 - Curated by jʌmɐs ʌndɐrsʌn
02 - 29 January 2010 - Curated by Mattrock
03 - 05 February 2010 - Curated by Japes
04 - 12 February 2010 - Curated by pidgin
